Wayang Bocor Process – Part 2

Acting Exploration, October 2016 – October is the second month of the exploration for Wayang Bocor’s “In the Name of Semelah”. The exploration on September was practicing the general form, music, and songs, while the practice on October was focused on acting.

This acting exploration consists of practicing body movement, vocals, and organizing scenes. The presence of actors on stage is a significant element of Wayang Bocor performance. The actors will perform in front and behind the screen to play the puppets (wayang).

One of the challenges in this exploration is how the actors play their parts on the stage and play the puppets behind the screen. There are different techniques of body flexibility when acting on the stage and when playing the puppets behind the screen. Music as a rhythm guide is very essential in this process.
